The one and only Afghan Superstar whose status was and is still is undisputed. He has been affectionately called the "Afghan Elvis." He was the son of a Prime Minister that became a self-taught musician. He couldn’t write or read musical notes, yet he was able to make 22 albums in 10 years. His lyrics are personal, yet universal and timeless. He embraced the legendary poets Afghanistan and Iran the same way as he did Western and foreign music. His hunger and passion for music made him a legend in his lifetime and he was the first super star of Afghan music. His music was popular as well in the neighboring countries. However, the Soviet Invasion brought a sudden end to everything in Afghanistan, including him. He was killed on his birthday at the age of 33 in 1979 under mysterious circumstances that remains unsolved to this day. We welcome you to Ahmad Zahir World
